Toothpicks with yummy designs.

With Toothpicks and Marshallows, I have some fun. Some Yummy and interesting designs. (5/10/2006)

 

I like to eat marshmallows, specially "toasted" marshmallows. I purchased some bags two weeks ago, one bag contains flavored miniature marshmallows (lemon, lime, orange and strawberry). After looking the colors of it, I had de idea to use it with Toothpicks.

 

Water Molecule.

Trying to remember my good old days of high school I built this "Water Molecule". There is only one atom of Oxigen and two atoms of Hydrogen.

 

This one is so simple. I decided to build a complex molecule.

 

Caffeine Molecule.

 

Here it is, a caffeine molecule. This molecule keeps us awake to work hard and make some money. Also represented as C8H10N4O2 and the chemical name is 3,7-Dihydro-1,3,7-trimethyl-1H-purine-2,6-dione. I think I'm going too far with this information.

 

Anyway, this molecule is eight atoms of Carbon (green), Ten atoms of Hydrogen (White), Four atoms of Nitrogen (yellow) and Two atoms of Oxigen (pink).

 

It is a lot of fun to build this molecules. After it is finished, I ate the marshmallows and built another thing.

 

A Marshmallow Structure.

Not only molecules can be built with marshmallows and toothpicks. Some interesting structures, and yummy, can be constructed. I think I saw this technique (Building with marshmallows) used by Beakman (TV program, The Beakman's World).

 

Some Schools also have competitions to build bridges with toothpicks and marshmallows. To be honest, I don't see any reason to build bridges with it. The marshmallow doesn't support weight and the structure is not strong. For me, this is a lot of fun only.
